About Us

Concert Hall, summer timeThe mission of the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College is to provide Durango and the Four Corners with an eclectic presenting program and to provide a low-cost, high-quality production venue for the college and surrounding communities.

The mission of the Concert Hall’s Presenting Program is to support artists who reflect the tastes of the region while educating college and regional audiences about cultures and performance traditions from throughout the United States and the rest of the world.  Concert Hall programs support the college and the region, including northwest New Mexico. As the area’s primary performing arts presenter, we strive to contribute to Durango’s reputation as a creative hub, presenting world-class performances while supporting college and community performances, and working with local schools, arts organizations and faculty to provide arts learning experiences for students.

Concert Hall interior seatingThe Concert Hall uses sandstone, maple and other natural materials to capture the beauty and elegance of the southwest Colorado environment. While the visible architecture is impressive it’s what can’t be seen, but heard, that truly makes the Hall special. All designs placed acoustics first from the walls to the selection of the seats. Sounds emanating from the stage have a two-second reverberation time, similar to Carnegie Hall. The Hall design works best with non-amplified musical performances but will also accommodate lectures, stage/opera productions and amplified musical performances.
